Tea at the Bay

4th February 2012 10:36:38

The phrase ‘on a clear day, you can see for ever’, was never more apt than on Thursday when I went to The Bay Restaurant for an afternoon tea party. The Bay has wonderful panoramic views out over Penzance and Mount’s Bay, and the sun shone brightly for us all, although I must be honest and say that I was more interested in what was going on inside the restaurant than out. I was delighted to be invited to join dozens of other guests and enjoy the delicious tiny sandwiches and cakes, which had been lovingly prepared in the Bay’s kitchens. Tea in teapots, coffee in coffee pots, china cups and saucers with silver teaspoons and not a mug in sight: it was all so perfect. I am sure we all dallied over the delights far longer than strictly necessary, and everyone I spoke to agreed that afternoon tea was certainly something we could do on a regular basis. I shall definitely have to return sometime soon.
